Clearhaus enters Sweden with Payfunc partnership
Two of the most technology-driven payment platforms in the Nordics partner up. Clearhaus and PayFunc aim to provide superior payment technology to Swedish online stores and digital services.
Danish fintech Clearhaus leaps across Öresund announcing a partnership with the payment service provider PayFunc. The partnership positions Clearhaus and Payfunc prominently on the Swedish market for online payments.
“Scandinavia holds a high priority for us because the e-commerce landscape here is thriving extremely well. Entering the Swedish market in partnership with a strong, technological partner like PayFunc strengthens our position here significantly,” says Clearhaus CEO, Claus Christensen.
The payment service provider PayFunc is based in Uppsala near Stockholm. The company’s C-suite has decades of experience in payment technology and has grown PayFunc to become a technologically superior gateway aimed towards developers.
“Our mindset is focused on creating the best technology for developers to implement into their systems and we choose our partners based on that. With Clearhaus we were aligned from day one,” says Simon Mika, CTO at PayFunc.
Denmark-based financial institution Clearhaus was the first in Denmark to introduce Apple Pay and Google Pay. And the technology-heavy company agrees on the importance of being developer-friendly.
“Since Clearhaus is really an API-first company, we are over the moon that PayFunc shares our vision of empowering developers in the fintech space,” says Claus Christensen.
Sweden has the biggest e-commerce industry in Scandinavia. Consumers in Sweden are estimated to have spent 16.86 billion euros online last year. Similarly, the Swedish payments ecosystem is well-developed with lots of competition. However, PayFunc’s heavy focus on nurturing developers is a niche that has great potential in the eyes of PayFunc’s Board Chairman, Päivö Eerola.
“In the complex environment of payments it is extremely important to offer a solution which is tailored to the developers who are responsible for everything to run smoothly. Often this is not the case. We want to change that,” says Päivö Eerola.
