Clearhaus brings Apple Pay to 5,000 Nordic Webshops

Aarhus, Denmark - Apple’s mobile payment and digital wallet service, Apple Pay was introduced to Sweden, Denmark and Finland in Q4 2017. In a strategic move to make this new technology available to its 5,000+ Nordic merchants, Danish acquirer Clearhaus will now support payments made with Apple Pay.

Mobile wallet technologies like Apple Pay are poised to change how people buy and sell goods in-store, in-app and online. Powered by Visa and Mastercard secure tokenization technology, Apple Pay allows iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac users to pay for goods easily and securely.

Using Apple Pay online, consumers no longer have to insert 16 digit credit or debit card numbers, expiry dates or security codes. After completing a simple one-time setup of their credit or debit card, users can make purchases in a physical store or in a webshop by placing their finger on the touch id or using face id of their iOS and MacOS device. This typing-free, biometric identification makes checkouts with Apple Pay the fastest in the market today.

Apple Pay uses a tokenization system to ensure the secure transfer of funds. When a user adds a credit or debit card to Apple Pay, a unique virtual token is created. This number is encrypted and saved on the user’s mobile device, and not on the cloud or on Apple servers. This token is accessible only with the biometric identification of the user, keeping credit or debit card information safe from fraudsters.

Holding roughly 20% market share in Denmark, Clearhaus in close cooperation with its gateway partner QuickPay now offer Merchants in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and Finland the means to embrace Apple Pay in their webshops.
